We are working hard to provide the community with a destination for outdoor leisure and a place to connect with the folks around you.
The Adams Community Park covers two acres of open space in the center of the Village of Adams adjacent to a historic school building that was converted into apartments. The Village and the Adams Community Park Committee are seeking opportunities to rehabilitate this Park into a more usable and desirable space, and retained Barton & Loguidice to produce a Master Plan in 2022. The project involved an Online Community Park Survey to collect public input, a Project Advisory Committee to oversee design development, and consistent branding. A site inventory, analysis, and two concept alternatives were developed in the process of producing a final site design, combining desirable features of each alternative.
The Adams Community Park Master Plan report proposes a vision to address community needs by building recreational, functional, and ecological opportunities at the Adams Community Park. Recommended improvements integrate inclusive design, sustainability, context-sensitivity, community input, and a progressive approach to provide multi-generational play for users of all mobility levels. The final site design consists of a large play area with accessible features, organic pathways, tree plantings, park amenities, and facilities, broken down into phased implementation. The Master Plan also provides funding strategies and sources that will help guide and prioritize future improvements to Adams Community Park.
Phase 1 of the Master Plan Park Design was submitted through the Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) in July 2022. The schedule and costs below anticipate Phase 1 receiving funding through New York State Environmental Protection Fund Grant Program for Parks, Preservation and Heritage.
